Dear Colleagues,
Health psychologists, helping professionals, and researchers working in mental health and healthcare settings around the world.
We would like to invite you to the 15th Conference of the Society for Critical Health Psychology, to be held at the University of Szeged in Hungary. In 2027, the conference will place healthcare provision at its heart, with special attention to the work of health psychologists across various areas of healthcare and health promotion, as well as the broader context of their work. This emphasis is also evident in the conference theme: "Accessible and Sustainable Health Psychology Services."
The conference will examine the problems and possibilities inside and outside the healthcare system, as well as various forms of support. Achieving accessible and sustainable care is both difficult and encouraging. This is especially true because fair access to basic needs remains a problem for many people, and the sustainability of health, relationships, communities, societies, and Earth's ecosystems is under threat at many closely linked levels.
Sharing ideas and experiences can also be encouraging, so we invite you to offer a variety of views, experiences, and suggestions on what it means to provide health psychology care in an accessible and sustainable manner. Please share your current research results as well as the theoretical and practical implications of the basic question: how do social, economic, and cultural factors affect health and recovery? We encourage you to combine research findings with practical approaches in order to create a rich network of shared knowledge.
In the past few months, Hungary has begun adopting a more inclusive, equitable, and environmentally aware approach, and healthcare has also seen promising developments. We look forward to sharing knowledge and experiences with health psychologists from Hungary and around the world, and to welcoming our colleagues to Szeged for a genuine international exchange.
Known as the “City of Sunshine,” Szeged is a lively university city in southern Hungary, set along the banks of the Tisza River. With its elegant squares, Art Nouveau architecture, tree-lined streets, and vibrant cultural life, the city combines a relaxed atmosphere with a strong academic and international character.
